Davitts 0-7 Aghagallon 1-8The Senior Footballers suffered their second defeat of the season when falling to Aghagallon at Boucher Road on Sunday. The first half was tight, with us playing against the wind and despite Aghagallon scoring the first two points we held possession of the ball and points from Gerard Burns and Stephe Toner levelled. Another well executed Stephen Toner point gave us the lead and we were playing with confidence and composure. We defended solidly but struggled to hit the target as the wind played havoc while Aghagallon found this task a bit easier, making use of the breeze, firstly with a well struck 45, then a long range point from the sideline and then a fast breaking move and another point. We responded with a Joe Kearney point but another Aghagallon point restored the two point advantage. The last score of the first half was also the best. Paul McGivern picked the ball up in his own half, played a net hand pass took the return, rounded the defender and struck as sweet a shot as you will see straight between the posts. At this stage we definitely fancied our chances, playing well, one point down and with the assistance of the wind in the second half everything appeared to be in our favour. However, much like the previous match against Rossa, our first half performance flattered to deceive and in the second half we were never able to get our momentum going. Aghagallon battled hard and in a low scoring second half their 1-2 was enough to overshadow our two points from Colm McAuley and Sean O’Neill to record a four point victory.Team: D O’Neill, P Maguire. N McCleave, G Rowntree, P McGivern (0-1), S McGovern, C O’Riordan, G Shaw, S Toner (0-2), S O’Neill (0-1), J Kearney (0-1), S Smith, G Burns (0-1), D Largey. Subs: C McAuley (0-1), M McAuley, G Neslon, L McGivern
