Ulster Silver Masters B Singles Final

imageKev McParland had bad luck when going down to Kenny Curran of Tyrone in the final of the Ulster Silver Masters B singles competition on Saturday. Played at Eugene Quinns in Armagh, Kev started the brighter, racing into a commanding 12-2 lead, however Curran dug deep and slowly chipped away at the deficit. Despite this Kev was playing controlled handball and although dominating the rallies it was the excellent kill shots of Curran which put him under pressure and a  array of shots saw Curran steal the first game 21-20.

Kev was on the back foot in the second and Curran picked up the pace of his game, exerting pressure as Kev battled to stay in the game. He managed to stick with Curran but again as in the first game, at the crucial stages of the game Curran started to roll the ball out, giving him the upper hand and the momentum to take the second game and the title.

This Sunday sees Kev team up with Stephen Brady in the Ulster Silver Masters B Doubles final at Gortnamona where they take on the Antrim pairing of Stevie Roberts and Gerry Rafferty at 2.00pm.
