U12 Girls v St Pauls

On Wednesday 31 May the Davitt girl’s Under 12 team travelled to Shaws Road to play the kingpins of Antrim ladies underage football – St Paul’s. From past experience we knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but we went into the game full of confidence and at full strength. The game started fairly even but St Pauls took a couple of early points to go into the lead. However, the Davitt girl’s showed great composure and hit back with a goal and a point in quick succession from the Mc Varnocks, Demi and Leoncha. We held onto the lead for about ten minutes before St Pauls took it back with a succession of scores which had us rocking until the half time whistle. In the second half we had the wind and managed to restrict St Paul’s to a single point. We scored a goal from the boot of Stephanie Mc Keown who when moved into midfield in the second half played very well and during this time we should have yielded more scores. The second half showed what we can do when we play as a team, and we had some lovely passages of passing and moving .The game ended St Pauls 4-5 Davitts 2-1. Some other players deserve a mention such as Kirsty Anne Toner, Christina Mc Garry, Chloe Donnelly, Leisha, Emma Magee, Nicole Mc Glone and Katie and Karen Mc Gonigle for great play on the night. We played well on the night and are now showing that we are making steady progress as in our previous encounters with St Paul’s we have struggled to score.
