Under 14’s record first League win

In their second league outing, Davitts Under 14 Footballers recorded an excellent win over Lamh Dearg in what turned out to be a really exciting and well fought contest.

Lamh Dearg started off the brighter and scored 1-1 without reply, however, once the midfield pairing of Padraig McParland and Patrick Quinn got to grips with their task, Davitts piled on the pressure and goals from Niall Hughes, Tiernan McGreevy and Brendan Collins helped them take a half time lead of 3-2 to 2-3.
In the second half, Davitts pressed strongly and only a combination of good defence and poor finishing prevented them from running up a bigger scoreline. A goal from Caoimhin Slane was followed up by points from Patrick Quinn and young Raymond, but Lamh Dearg came back towards the end and only resolute defence from Brendan Clarke at full back kept them at bay. Final score was Davitts 4-4, Lamh Dearg 2-5.

The half back line of Anthony Rowntree, Caolán Park and Caoilin Kearns were excellent for Davitts, as was Patrick Quinn, Conor Moreland and Niall Hughes, but MOTM was Padraig McParland who covered every blade of grass and looks to be back to his best.

Lamh Dearg also contributed immensely to a very sporting and competitive game.
